‘Wait!’ after murmurs of agreement in my speech, I hushed everyone, suddenly hearing something. A foul voice on the air. A stony rough voice that sounded greedy and lifeless.
‘Run them down! Tear them to pieces!’ I heard the voice order from not far away.
Then we all heard wolves howling, and our courage was taken by sudden dread.
‘Out of the frying-pan...’ said Thorin.
‘...and into the fire,’ continued Mithrandir, and he looked at each of us quickly. ‘Run! RUN!’
What a cursed fate to escape danger only to be put at an even greater peril.
